Specific Interests

My research addresses ecological and evolutionary effects on adaptation and speciation using genetic and genomic tools. Some organisms have the ability to thrive in hostile environments which allow for an integrative and comparative analysis between populations. I use Poecilia mexicana, a livebearing freshwater fish to explore how ecological and evolutionary processes drive environmental adaptations and speciation, and how these processes influence the underlying genes within the genome.
