Specific Interests

My research focuses on the role of maternal effects in disease ecology. Specifically, I am interested in how mothers exposed to a pathogen manipulate offspring phenotype and whether or not these manipulations are adaptive for offspring based on their current pathogen environment. My research combines concepts and techniques from immunology, bioenergetics, and endocrinology in an attempt to examine the evolutionary potential of maternal effects in shaping host responses to novel pathogens.
